BARRANCO DE LA PALMITA
Meriga, Serpa and La Palmita are small villages scattered throughout Barranco de La Palmita. They conserve some traditional homes and other elements such as threshing floors and the remains of old mills. Next to the road, the Serpa hamlet has the remains of one of the watermills that were established at the edges of the Barranco. Grains were brought here from the surrounding area to make gofio, a staple of Gomeran food.
