LOS FILICRISTIS
Translated as “the sons of Christ”, the Filiichristi community was led by Agustín Bethencourt Padilla. Its members included Luz López, Domingo Montesinos, Pascasio Trujillo and Pedro Sánchez. Although when he created the congregation in his native village Agustín’s two brothers, José and Pedro, lived in Santa Cruz de Tenerife and Cuba, respectively, they were to play key roles in the events of this period, as they would later form part of the mystical and esoteric group and author its main literary works.
